Volunteer Opportunities: Vista Maria's Volunteer Program provides a means for community members to contribute to the lives of the girls in our programs through direct and indirect contact. Volunteers are encouraged to choose from activities that assist clients and staff. We always welcome ideas for specific projects, including professional services. Individuals or groups may participate on a daily, weekly, annually, or to meet your schedule. Please review the many ways to a volunteer can make a difference. For more information than what appears here, contact Wendy Kearney, Volunteer Services Manager, at 313-271-3050 Ext. 114 or wkearney@vistamaria.org.

Mentorship Program: This program pairs female mentors (21 or older) with Vista Maria clients to help our girls rebuild relationships and learn more from mentors.
Through this relationship, the client may learn independent living skills, get help with tutoring, and discover how to be a friend. Through shared experiences, mentors empower our girls to reach new heights in their lives. Our mentors are important role models who help our girls make the transition to self support and independence. Our Mentorship Program asks you for only a one-year commitment, as our girls may be here that long. We also ask that you visit your mentee for at least one hour every week. We offer a monthly activity for all mentors and mentees. These requirements enable our mentor to make a life-long impact.
If you are interested in becoming a Vista Maria Mentor please contact Wendy Kearney at (313) 271-3050, Ext. 114 or at wkearney@vistamaria.org.
Tutoring Program: Many of our girls are in need of tutoring. Although they attend school daily, many of our girls havent attended school regularly in up to three years and are significantly behind academically. Tutors are very much needed and appreciated at Vista Maria. Hours and days are flexible. If you are interested, please contact Wendy Kearney at (313) 271-3050, Ext. 114 or at wkearney@vistamaria.org.
Student Internships: Internships are available at Vista Maria for a variety of different positions. Although we are a social services agency, we do have other opportunities for internships outside of the Social Work and Psychology fields. If you are interested, please contact Wendy Kearney at (313) 271-3050, Ext. 114 or at wkearney@vistamaria.org. |
