COVID-19 Response

Our Approach – Restoring Hope

Full statement and information updated: April 13, 2021

Vista Maria continues to take a proactive approach to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and keep our campus safe. We have been diligently following guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and local health authorities. The safety and wellbeing of everyone living and working with Vista Maria is our primary concern and we take it seriously, and so we are committed to follow or exceed all safety precautions set forth to ensure that we are adequately prepared and implementing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Masks must be worn at all times by staff and youth. We also maintain regular physical distancing practices. Dedicated cleaning staff disinfect surfaces and door handles throughout the day in addition to regular cleaning. In the event of a positive COVID-19 test result within any of our buildings, we undertake a Level 3 decontamination cleaning with trained cleaning staff, following recommended procedures.

All resident meals are packaged individually. To support our on-campus staff we additionally provide individually packaged lunches and dinners at no charge, to reduce traffic on and off campus.

All non-essential staff are currently working from home. Vista Maria provides free voluntary COVID-19 testing every Wednesday for our staff. All staff have vaccinations made available to them as care facility workers, and we support CDC guidelines encouraging vaccines.

For our Foster Care program and other off-campus meetings, we maintain the same protocols with our staff, families and care provider partners we meet. Whenever possible we have remote phone or video meetings, and when we need in-person meetings, such as home visits with foster families, masks are worn at all times and everyone keeps physical distance.

We are currently not able to accept individual in-kind donations such as clothing or other Boutique items. If you have essential supplies to donate, please contact Ganelle Lesnew, to determine if we can accept and to schedule an approved delivery.
