Growing up in an Irish family, I’ve learned a lot about my ancestry. For instance, the way my name is pronounced is the Gaelic form of Michelle, not Megan. The heritage of the Irish people, in Ireland specifically, has made a most lasting impression on me. Despite centuries of occupation and marginalization by foreign invaders, the loss of over a million people during The Great Potato Famine, and a struggle for independence from the British, they are collectively some of the most charming and positive people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

Their resilience in the face of clear challenges reminded me of you- the people I have had the privilege to work with at Vista Maria. No doubt, the work is hard even on the best of days, and it is easier to find reasons to grumble than sing praises. But in the last two years, I have also felt love and laughter, and have been inspired by your dedication to our mission. Just like the Irish, you are able to rise above and approach the days with our youth and families in mind. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to serve the mission at your side.

I am confident that Meredith, Kathy, Kim and the executive team will do an amazing job during the transition of leadership, and I will be saying prayers and cheering you on from afar. I wish you nothing but the best in the future.

Warmly,

Megan
