Angela Aufdemberge, President & CEO

Angela Aufdemberge became President and CEO of Vista Maria in October 2011 after 14 years as a volunteer and member of the Board of Directors.   Under her leadership, Vista Maria has embraced a commitment to Trauma Informed Care and has trained the entire staff to use this philosophy in all interactions.  As part of Vista Maria’s dedication to helping female survivors of human trafficking, a new $4.8 million building will open on campus in 2020 to serve more than 30 females who were victimized.

In 2019, she received the Eugene Miller Fellowship that honors outstanding, experienced leaders of McGregor-funded nonprofit organizations in metropolitan Detroit.  She was named a Notable Women in Nonprofits by Crain’s Detroit Business in 2018.

Prior to her position with Vista Maria, Angela served as Executive Vice President of operations and sales development for Entertainment Publications.   Angela has also served as the executive responsible for human resources in North America for a metal cutting tool manufacturer headquartered in Warren; MI and as head of human resources for Arcadia/IHS and Delta Dental Plan of Michigan.

Angela earned her Master of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration from Wayne State University.  She also holds a Senior Professional Human Resources Certification by the Society of Human Resources Management.

Kathy Regan, Chief Financial Officer

Kathy Regan joined the Executive Leadership Team in January 2013 as Vista Maria’s Chief Financial Officer. Kathy has aided the development of strategic planning and business development financial models, budget integration practices, as well as operational and corporate planning disciplines in order to continue Vista Maria’s success as a leader in the Child Welfare programming arena. Kathy was formerly the Executive Vice President of Accounting, Finance, Human Resources and Legal with Entertainment Promotions, L.L.C. in Troy, Michigan. Kathy earned her BA in Telecommunications (Emphasis Economics) from Michigan State University.

Meredith Reese, Chief Integrated and Behavioral Health Officer

Meredith Reese, Chief Integrated and Behavioral Health Officer has been with Vista Maria since July 2003.  In her current role, she is responsible for the integration of mental health and physical health services on campus serving all youth in care.  Meredith holds a certification in Integrated Behavioral Health and Primary Care-Pediatric Track and has twenty years of extensive knowledge in areas of mental health, trauma, and adolescent development. Meredith holds a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. In addition, she is a featured speaker, presenter, and trainer relating to human trafficking, and trauma. Meredith is an active member and board member of the Michigan Human Trafficking Taskforce and is chair of the Southeastern division. Meredith raises awareness to stand against human trafficking through community advocacy and presentations. In 2014, Meredith was the recipient of the Department of Health and Human Services –Best Practice Award for her work and dedication to the anti-trafficking movement.

Karen Hall, Vice President of Treatment Programs

Vice President of Treatment Programs, Karen Hall started her career at Vista Maria in February, 1995.  She is responsible for providing leadership for the planning, implementation and management of all residential treatment. Early in her career she served Vista Maria as a group social worker for the Special Care Unit (clients suffering from severe and complex trauma). She has also served as the Director of Quality where she and her team were responsible for establishing quality improvement targets, identifying continuous improvement opportunities, and ensuring the implementation of an annual quality plan for all Vista Maria programs. Karen has successfully led the agency’s re-accreditation from COA, and oversees all regulatory licensure compliance, and administration and routing of all residential and foster care program contracts and corrective action plans for the agency.

Prior to coming to Vista Maria, Karen was a counselor for Parkside Mental Health Service in Detroit. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice. She also has her certification in conducting investigations since 1999.

Donald Fields, Vice President of Organizational and Individual Engagement

Vice President of Organizational and Individual Engagement, Donald Fields joined the Vista Maria Executive Leadership Team in 2018.  He leads our teams responsible for after school programs, strategic planning process and organizational culture initiatives, which includes advancing Vista Maria’s Philosophy of Care, Trauma Response Implemented Practice, and Risking Connection organizational development efforts.  Donald holds a master’s degree in Human Resources & Organizational Development and has over 30 years of experience in social service leadership and human resources management.

Tiffany Kelsey, Director of Human Resources and Quality

Director of Human Resources and Quality, Tiffany Kelsey joined the Executive Leadership Team in August 2018. Prior to Vista Maria, Tiffany was the Vice President of Administration & Operations for New Center Community Services where she was responsible for the oversight of human resources, transportation, facilities and clinical operations. Tiffany holds an MSA in Human Resources Administration from Central University and a Bachelor of Science-Accounting from Georgia State University. Tiffany has more than 20 years of accounting experience and she has her PHR, SHRM-CP certification.

Kelly Small, Director of Strategic Initiatives

Director of Strategic Initiatives, Kelly Small joined the Executive Leadership Team in March 2016. Kelly works with the CEO to develop relationships and partnerships, which aid the fulfillment of Vista Maria strategic objectives. She is responsible for identification, development, funding and implementation of programs that fulfill the key strategic initiatives of the organization. In 2017, she was named President of Vista Affordable Housing, a subsidiary of Vista Maria.  Kelly has more than 20 years public relations, nonprofit, and government relations experience.  Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Wayne State University and has a certification in Strategic Management Performance System through George Washington University.

Michael Smith, LMSW, LMFT, Director of Foster Care and Community Independent Living Programs

Director of Foster Care and Community Independent Living Programs, Michael Smith has been with Vista Maria since November 2016. Prior to Vista Maria, Michael was a Family Services Worker, Clinical Supervisor, Program Manager and lastly the Quality Manager at Holy Cross Children’s Services where he managed the Foster Care and Independent Living Programs.  Michael holds a master’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University and is Licensed both in Clinical and Macro Social Work and is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Michigan.

Mary Vogt, Director of Marketing and Fund Development

Director of Marketing and Fund Development, Mary Vogt joined Vista Maria in 2010 as the Manager of Special Events. In her tenure at Vista Maria, Mary has worked on the strategic growth of Vista Maria’s marketing and fund development efforts through the development of a grant program, major gift and funder procurement, and effective donor stewardship.  Mary previously managed fundraising efforts for Near North Montessori School in Chicago, Illinois and earned her BA in Social Relations and Policy from James Madison College at Michigan State University.
